ACTION ALERT


Problem:
1. Insufficient knowledge of recreational therapy services by policy makers responsible for the MaineCare Redesign, or the Maine Medicaid program.

2. Possibility of eliminating recreational therapy from the list of rehabilitation services covered by the MaineCare Program.

Action Needed:
1. Register to vote if you have not already done so.

2. Review the attached letter composed by ATRA in response to recent MaineCare proposals.

3. a) Use the attached letter as a template to prepare your individual response to the proposals.
or simply

3. b) Copy the body of this letter on company letterhead if permitted, insert the appropriate salutation for your elected official, modify the introduction to reflect your company and city, and include your information at the closing of the letter.

4. Use the attached Excel Spreadsheets to determine which elected officials you should send your comments. Choose those in your voting district and send them each a copy of the comment letter.

5. Courtesy copy each letter via mail, fax or email to the ATRA National Office so we can monitor our efforts

6. Be looking for future ATRA Action Alerts regarding this issue
a. Public Hearing announcements may be coming – your attendance would be requested.
b. Familiarize yourself with the attached “Talking Points” so you are prepared to represent your profession accordingly.
