CDATRA (Cincinnati/Dayton)
It's been
a busy fall here at the Cincinnati/Dayton Area Recreational Therapy
Association (CDARTA). We have just finished with our annual fall workshop,
began a Professional Awareness and Promotion Campaign Committee, and
began strides to further and improve our membership. This year's workshop
was held at Camp Kern in Lebanon, Ohio on October the 12th. Camp Kern
is a YMCA affiliated camp, which offers a multiple of different program
opportunities. The focus for this year's workshop was on Experiential
Education within Recreational Therapy. The day was filled with educational
sessions to teach facilitation techniques of Experiential Education
as well as participate in those activities. These opportunities allowed
our members the opportunity to improve their networking skills with
the other therapists' and to take back some of the initiatives to their
facilities.
The committee on Professional Awareness and Promotion Campaign has been
introduced by Dr. Kathleen Scheltens from the College of Mount Saint
Joseph's in Cincinnati. This campaign was introduced to CDARTA, back
in April, by Dr. Schelten, as a way for CDARTA and Recreational Therapy
to promote our services to the community and as a profession. This committee
is still in its infant stage and we look forward to its development.
The membership with CDARTA
has not been up to the standard par as it has in the past. With the
constant dedication of our Board and our Member at Large, Melinda Hall,
we are confident that we will continue to increase our membership by
the end of term.
CDARTA continues to grow financially and structurally as an organization
through its constant dedication of its current members, the backing
or the Chapter Affiliate Council, and it's Board of Directors.
