Pacific Northwest Chapter

The Pacific NW Chapter Affiliate sponsored a workshop on October 25th, entitled Motivating the Challenging Client. Presenters were ATRA members Kay Hilt, MA, CTRS, who presented on "Locus of Control", and Kathyleen Tomlin,MS, LPC, CADC II, who presented on Motivational Interview-ing. For Locus of Control, participants learned to describe the quadrants of the Locus of Control and developed treatment plans based on each quadrant of the Locus of Control Model. Using the Locus of Control Model, participants were able to Implement outcome based treatment programs. For Motivational Interviewing, participants were able to verbalize basic concepts of Motivational Interviewing and Stages Of Change. Participants were able to identify methods of application in individual work settings. Participants practiced Reflective Listening Skills. The workshop was highly interactive, engaging and fun!
