Administrative Coordinator, National Alliance for Accessible Golf

The Administrative Coordinator will provide national coordination for Alliance projects and Board of Directors’ activities. These currently include Project GAIN and the various Board of Directors’ approved committees. Other essential duties include scheduling and management of necessary meetings; providing support to Alliance committees; coordinate the flow of all types of communication about the Alliance; and initiating and assisting Board members in raising funds for the National Alliance for Accessible Golf. This is a full time position funded by a grant. It will expire in one year unless additional grant funds are secured. A Bachelor’s degree is required as well as two years experience in project management; excellent communication skills; understanding of the game of golf; understanding of disability and the ADA; and an understanding of fundraising and development. This position will be considered an as an independent contract for $40,000 for 12 months. Incumbent is responsible for Adaptive Leisure Sports Recreation Programmer assignment. Partners with community stakeholders to develop and create a comprehensive adaptive leisure sports program. Schedules and coordinates activities to provide inclusion support and adaptive recreation programs and competitions for Track & Field, Archery, Swimming, Table Tennis, Bowling, Cheerleading, Power Soccer, Bocce Ball, Tennis, Golf, Gymnastics, and Basketball. Assists in working with game management committees to host local, regional, and national disabled sports competitions sponsored through organizations such as Wheelchair Sports USA, Special Olympics, Sport for the Blind, etc.

Requirements: Requires any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, or in a field related to a specialty area, and one year of recreation work experience. Municipal recreation experience is preferred. Membership in the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association, and National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) is desirable. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists are preferred for this position. Special Requirement: Must have or be able to obtain a standard Arizona Driver's License by hire or promotion date.

Qualifications include: doctorate preferred, (a master’s degree required) with at least one degree in Therapeutic Recreation; Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist required; significant experience in the Therapeutic Recreation field; teaching experience is desirable with opportunities for teacher training.
