LEADERSHIP ATRA CLASS OF 2005
Developing Leadership for a Promising Future



Kelly Carson, CTRS

Kelly graduated form the University of Indiana with a Bachelors of Science degree Therapeutic Recreation.  She currently works at ADEC Inc. In Indiana, Kelly is responsible for developing programs for over 100 children and adults with developmental disabilities.  Kelly has also spoken at different agencies such as ARC on the importance of recreational therapy.  Kelly is an active board member of the Obesity Clinical Guidelines and the Co-Leader of the Developmental Disabilities Treatment Network.  Kelly is currently working on her master’s degree in Recreational Therapy.

Joy Felegie, CTRS

Joy has been a CTRS since 1981.  She has worked in various roles primarily serving people with Developmental Disabilities.  She graduated from Shenandoah University with a Bachelors of Science in Therapeutic Recreation. She worked for 20 years full time.  Joy made the decision to pursue family and personal goals after that time, including international adoption of two beautiful children.  During this time she also worked on improving her writing skills and completing her Masters Degree. Joy works part time as a Grants and Strategic Projects Coordinator for Northern Virginia Training Center.  She also teaches Adaptive Aquatics part time at the Fairfax Park Authority.  Joy is currently an Indiana University TR graduate student approximately mid-way through her distance education program.  Her hobbies include reading, gardening, working out, church hiking, swimming and family activities.

Sarah Lingerfelt., CTRS

Sarah has experience as a Recreational Therapist with Psychiatric and Geriatric populations.  Her most recent position was with ATRA, as the Continuing Education and Membership Associate.  She is currently unemployed (although continues to be involved with ATRA programs and initiatives), newly married and living in South Georgia. She enjoys playing cello in the Coastal Symphony, riding horses, walking her dog, kayaking and cooking out in the backyard.

Marieka Van Punymbroeck, Ph.D., CTRS, CRC

Marieka was a professor at the University of Illinois. She is currently teaching at the University of Indiana.  Her career includes various research projects relating to recreation therapy.  She has worked in many faculties in different states.  She was a trainer for USA Women Paralympics Basketball team in 2000.  Marieka has also published several writing in Journals.  She is a member of the ATRA World Health Organization, ATRA Workforce Development and a reviewer for Therapeutic Recreation Journal.  Her honors include: Student Research Award NTRS, Peg Connolly Awards Recipient.  She has received many travel awards.  Marieka does take time for leisure. She enjoys most outdoor activities.

Lynette Brady, MHS, CTRS

Lynette currently works at the VA in Lebanon, Pa.  She has worked in the VA for sixteen years.  She received her Bachelors degree from the University of Illinois.  Lynette has worked with many populations.  Lynette is looking forward to getting more involved with the profession and is currently serving as the LEADERSHIP ATRA Alumni Coordinator.
