Team Mission: Provide resources to ATRA members on accessible golf issues and liaison to the National Alliance for Accessible Golf through the ATRA appointed designee.  Establish a mechanism for ATRA members to network and establish future direction for recreational therapy’s involvement in accessible golf.

Board Direction Statement 2007: Make recommendations to the ATRA Board related to ongoing involvement for members working with golfers with disabilities.

Have you ever thought about using golf as a tool for recreational therapy?
A few years ago ATRA started the Accessible Golf Team with a mission to provide resources to ATRA members on accessible golf issues, serve as a liaison to the National Alliance for Accessible Golf through an appointed designee, and establish a mechanism for ATRA members to network and establish future direction for recreational therapy involvement in accessible golf.  This team is made up of ATRA members from around the U.S. who use golf with their clients as a rehabilitation tool and/or recreational activity so that individuals with disabilities benefit from their golf experiences.

If you have any questions regarding golf please do not hesitate to contact us.  One of the reasons we exist is to help you, our fellow ATRA member.  Also if you are interested in joining us please contact one of our team leaders Lisa Jo Morgan lmorgan@siskinrehab.org  or Dana Dempsey dana.dempsey@tsrh.org .  We will be a stronger team with your added experience and we will be able to serve others even better!

Resources

"Used as both a therapeutic intervention and a recreational activity, golf can be a connection between clinical and community programs.  The presentation given at the 2006 Mid-Year Professional Issues Forum in Plano, Texas provided information regarding programs, resources and current issues.  Please click on the link to view it."
