Communications Coordinator Congressman Peterson to serve as ATRA Ad Hoc Board Member Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, President of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) recently announced that the 2002-2003 ATRA Ad Hoc Board Member will be Congressman John E. Peterson, Pennsylvania 5th Congressional District. In this position Congressman Peterson will be able to offer insight to the ATRA Board of Directors, specifically related to healthcare policy. According to Thompson, the Congressman is a leading advocate on health issues in the United States House of Representatives. Thompson states, “We are very excited to have him join our Board in this advisory capacity.” John Peterson was first elected to serve Pennsylvania's Fifth Congressional District in 1996. Congressman Peterson is very invested in health care issues and is the leader in Congress specifically on rural health care issues. As a former Pennsylvania State Senator and House Member he has been recognized in Pennsylvania for his work on Health Care issues and including Therapeutic Recreation. The American Therapeutic Recreation
Association (ATRA) is the largest, national membership organization
representing the interests and need of recreational therapists.
ATRA has a long history of active involvement with healthcare
policy issues and the board is very excited at the prospect
of working closely with Congressman Peterson in the upcoming
