Recreation opportunities are available to patients/clients
to promote or improve their general health and well-being.
RATIONALE
The agency environment and treatment procedures often increase
patient/client needs for self-expression, independence, stimulation,
control, security and creativity. Recreation opportunities
can assist in meeting these needs as well as provide individuals
with other positive outcomes such as adjustment to medical
procedures, fitness, relaxation, changes in lifestyle, release
from stress, and satisfying social interaction. Recreation
experiences have a developmental, rehabilitative and habilitative
impact upon patients/clients.
