This new publication from ATRA is designed as a "blueprint" to help
guide the recreational therapist through the special education setting in delivering
quality recreational therapy services to students. The guidelines presented
in this document represent a commitment to promoting a minimum quality of TR
practice in special educational environments. These guidelines may prove useful
to administrators, educators, other professionals, and parents in informing,
planning for, and/or providing quality services that utilize recreation as a
related service in the education of children and youth in special education
setting. The information presented in the manual is also relevant to private
special education settings, including residential settings and hospital-based
special education programs.
