Standards for the Practice of Therapeutic Recreation, Revised 2000Standards for the Practice of Therapeutic Recreation, Revised 2000

Atra has been a major player in the development of practice standards since its inception in 1984. In 1991, the first Standards for the Practice of Therapeutic Recreation was published. It included a comprehensive set of practice guidelines for the profession of therapeutic recreation. Three years later, the publication was expanded to include an evaluation component designed to enable practitioners to "self evaluate" both the quality and scope of their professional practice. This newly revised edition (2000) now contains standards of practice for therapeutic recreation assistants (TRA). Materials covered in this new publication are direct practice standards, management of Therapeutic Recreation practice standards, Self Assessment Guide, and Appendices which include documentation audit, management audit, outcome monitoring instrument, competency assessment instrument, performance appraisal tool, internship evaluation tool, ATRA Code of Ethics, ATRA Patient/Client Bill of Rights and Patient/Therapist Ratio Guidance.
