Team Leaders
(Committee Chairs, Treatment Network Coordinators, Task Force Chairs, Liaisons)
Position Description


Length of term: One year minimum, although some leadership positions require a longer commitment. Term usually begins at the Annual Membership meeting held during the Annual Conference. All team leaders (committee chairpersons, task force chairs and liaisons) are appointed by the President, with approval of the Board of Directors. Treatment Network Coordinators, apply for the treatment network position which is approved by the Board of Directors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Establish an initial workplan and budget request (contact your board liaison for annual due dates).

2. Establish committee/network/task force membership through your own contacts, your board liaison and through responses from the membership (often referred by the ATRA National Office).

3. Maintain monthly telephone calls with board liaison.

4. Respond to routine telephone inquiries, committee membership requests, disseminate committee work among members and maintain routine communications with committee members.

5. Provide committee leadership and work on progress toward stated goals and tasks.

6. Complete the Mid Year Progress Report (contact your board liaison for annual due dates).

7. Continue leadership to committee and work toward stated goals and tasks.

8. Complete Annual Report to the Board (contact your board liaison for annual due dates) and submit to the Executive Director for inclusion in the Board Meeting manual.

9. Forward all reimbursement request forms to the Executive Director for approval and processing.

10. When appropriate, conduct educational sessions at the Mid Year Professional Issues Forum or Annual Conference.

11. Conduct mid year and annual committee meetings in concert with Association Mid Year Professional Issues Forum and Annual Conference.

12. Write at least one article for the ATRA Newsletter every six months, when appropriate.


Minimum Qualifications:

1. Any individual members of ATRA may serve in a leadership position. ATRA membership must be in good standing.

2. Experience in the area of committee work.

3. Must possess organizational and follow through skills.

4. Ability to represent committee interests in regular dialogue with board liaison.
